1/15/15: Comet Lovejoy over Golden, CO

Tonight was finally clear enough to try and image Comet Lovejoy (C/2014 Q2) from the light-polluted western metro area. The comet is currently visible high in the southern sky after the sun sets, and can be observed as a faint greenish glow using binoculars, even here in Golden.

Twenty 4-second images stacked (dark frames) to bring out additional detail in the comet’s tail:
