One last solar eclipse post: This is a timelapse sequence of the solar eclipse that occurred on May 20, 2012, captured at Daniels Park in Castle Pines, CO. Unfortunately the clouds did not cooperate, but in the middle of the video you can see it get quite dark, all of a sudden (a combination of clouds, and the eclipse rapidly nearing maximum coverage of the sun). One image was captured every 5 seconds from 1836-1948 hrs. using a 5D MkII and EF24-105/4L lens, and compiled at 30 fps using Timelapse Assembler.

Lastly, a composite image using a series of time-lapse frames from the eclipse, blended using stacking techniques generally used for astrophotography imagery. The technique essentially creates a timestack, and portrays an interval of time similar to a very, very long exposure, while preserving much more detail in the clouds than an actual long exposure image would. It really is quite like a ‘time-lapse image’, rather than video.
